Looking for flexible weekday work with weekly pay? Appetite4Work is hiring agency Kitchen Assistants to support schools and education sites across the local area.
Our school clients regularly need additional catering staff to cover sickness, absence and busy periods, with opportunities for both individual shifts and ongoing placements.
As an agency School Kitchen Assistant, you’ll benefit from:

What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting the school catering team with food preparation
- Assisting with breakfast and lunchtime service
- Serving meals to pupils and staff
- Setting up and clearing down dining areas
- Washing up and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen
- Following food hygiene, allergen and health & safety procedures
- Supporting chefs and other catering staff where required
What we’re looking for:
- Reliability, punctuality and a positive attitude
- Previous kitchen, catering or hospitality experience
- Confidence working as part of a busy catering team
- Regular weekday availability
- Previous school or contract catering experience is desirable
- Drivers are preferred for some locations due to limited public transport
DBS requirements:
As you will be working within schools and education settings, an Enhanced DBS is required.
If you already hold a suitable Enhanced DBS registered on the DBS Update Service, please let us know when applying.
If you do not currently have the required DBS, Appetite4Work can arrange and cover the cost of a new Enhanced DBS for suitable candidates. Please be aware that DBS applications can take several weeks to be processed, so we encourage interested candidates to apply as soon as possible.
Essential requirements:
- Right to work in the UK
- Ability to follow food hygiene, health & safety and allergen procedures
- Ability to reliably travel to your booked school placements
- Willingness to complete the required training and DBS process
Working hours:
The majority of our school Kitchen Assistant shifts take place Monday to Friday, usually between approximately 09:00 and 16:00, although exact hours will depend on each school’s requirements.
Our schools value consistency, so reliable Kitchen Assistants who perform well may be requested back regularly and have the opportunity to build up ongoing weekday work.
