As an Agency School Chef with us, you’ll have the opportunity to work across a variety of education sites, with the majority of shifts taking place Monday to Friday during daytime hours.

What you’ll be doing:

Preparing and cooking meals to a high standard in line with each school’s menus and requirements
Supporting school catering teams during busy breakfast and lunchtime services
Preparing food for pupils, staff and visitors
Following health and safety, food hygiene and allergen procedures
Supporting with food preparation, service and general kitchen duties as required

Pay Rates (PAYE, weekly pay):

Chef de Partie (CDP): £16–£18 per hour
Sous Chef: £18–£19 per hour
Head Chef: £20+ per hour, depending on client
Holiday pay is accrued separately

Essential Requirements:

Previous professional chef experience
Enhanced DBS suitable for working within education
Level 2 Food Safety and Allergens Awareness dated within the last 2 years. Free training can be provided
Chef whites, apron, hat, own knives and suitable non-slip footwear
Right to work in the UK
Ability to reliably travel to school sites across Redhill, Reigate and the surrounding areas

If you do not currently have the required Enhanced DBS, Appetite4Work can arrange and cover the cost of a new DBS for suitable candidates. Please be aware that applications can take several weeks to be processed.

Desirable:

Previous school, education or contract catering experience
Driving licence and access to transport, as some schools may be difficult to reach by public transport
Regular weekday availability
Experience catering for large numbers and different dietary requirements

Our school shifts are predominantly Monday to Friday, usually falling between approximately 07:00 and 16:00 depending on the individual school’s requirements.

Some bookings may be individual shifts to cover sickness or absence, while others can develop into regular or ongoing placements. Our schools value consistency, so reliable chefs may have the opportunity to return to the same sites regularly.
