School Catering Manager / Kitchen Manager – Term-Time – Great Wakering, Essex

Appetite4Work is hiring a Catering Manager to lead a school kitchen in Great Wakering. This role may suit someone looking for consistent weekday hours during term-time. You’ll have the autonomy to manage the kitchen while being part of a reliable agency with weekly pay and ongoing support. Pay is £21.50 per hour, with holiday pay accrued separately

This is a zero-hour, temporary booking starting 1st September, expected to run until at least Christmas, with potential to extend into the new year. You’ll work Monday to Friday, approximately 07:30 to 13:30, during term-time only.

What you’ll be doing:

Managing the day-to-day running of a primary school kitchen
Leading a small catering team during lunch service
Planning, preparing and serving meals that meet school food guidelines

You’ll need to have:

Previous experience managing a school kitchen, or 3+ years as a Second Chef in a school
Level 2 Food Safety and Allergen Awareness (within 2 years) – training can be provided
